Overview
We are currently seeking Heavy Wrecker Operators for our 2nd shift positions. Experience is great, but we are willing to train the right people to become an HJ Heavy Wrecker Operator. This position requires a Class A CDL.

Heavy Wrecker Operator
Job Description (Tasks, Duties, and Responsibilities)
- Safely, correctly, and efficiently tow and recover various vehicles and equipment.
- Safely, correctly, and efficiently haul equipment or materials on rollbacks, dry van/reefer trailers, traveling axle trailers, bus trailers, or other HJ equipment.
- Safely, correctly, and efficiently lift/recover vehicles, equipment, or other objects using the wrecker under lift or winches.
- Perform basic mechanical tasks to safely and correctly tow or recover equipment.
- Maintain and inspect all towing equipment to ensure it is clean and in proper working order.
- Assist and lead on accident scenes when needed to clean the road of debris and fluids, unload freight, rig units for recovery, and more, depending on what the job requires.
- Assist in basic shop-related functions like cleaning the shop and equipment, and assisting the mechanics when applicable. The shop foreman or other management staff may assign tasks as needed.
- Work at least one weekend a month
Job Specification (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and other competencies)
- Understanding lifting and towing capacity based on manufacturer specifications. Understand equipment ratings.
- Follow Driving laws and DOT regulations.
- Understand which equipment and techniques to use based on the situation.
- Use proper hook points, tow points, or tie-down points when towing, recovering, or hauling vehicles or equipment.
- Ability to complete and understand required paperwork like bills, police reports, HJ documents, pre-trip forms, etcetera.
- Have a valid PA Class A Commercial Driver License and a valid Medical Card.
- Clean driving record for insurance purposes
- Ability to safely lift heavy objects or materials, sometimes in excess of 100 pounds
- Ability to shift manual transmissions.
- Follow HJ policies and safety regulations.
- Required to use and purchase their own hand tools and impacts

Salary : $40,000 - $110,000
