Hix & Cortese, PC is seeking a personable and detail-oriented Administrative Assistant to join our small, friendly CPA firm in Milford. This vital role supports our accounting team and ensures a positive experience for our clients by keeping our office operations running smoothly.

Key Responsibilities
As an Administrative Assistant, you will be crucial to our daily operations. Your core duties will include:
- Client Communication: Answering phones, managing firm emails, and assisting clients with their questions in a professional and empathetic manner.
- Tax Return Processing: Packaging completed tax returns, scanning necessary documents, and maintaining organized physical and electronic client files.
- Mail & Logistics: Preparing envelopes, coordinating mailings (including quarterly estimates to clients), and managing incoming and outgoing correspondence.
- General Office Support: Performing various administrative duties, such as organization and managing schedules, and supporting the team with special projects as needed.

Required:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency with standard office software (Microsoft Office, email, etc.).

- A commitment to maintaining high levels of confidentiality with sensitive client information.
Schedule & Work Environment
We are transparent about our workload variations throughout the year. The schedule is structured around the tax season to provide clarity and work-life balance.
- January: Standard full-time hours (Monday – Friday, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm).
- Peak Tax Season (Feb 1 – April 15): Extended hours are required during this busy period.
- Monday – Thursday: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm with two required evening shifts until 7:00 pm (you select your two evenings).
- Friday & Saturday: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm.
- Off-Season (After April 15 – End of Year*): Enjoy a relaxed schedule and a three-day weekend!
- Monday – Thursday: 9:00 am – 4:00 pm.
- Fridays off!
- *A few Fridays may be needed during the extension deadline season September to mid-October.
