We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Tax Manager to oversee all aspects of tax compliance and strategy for our growing organization. The primary focus of this role is to manage federal, state, and local tax obligations while supporting the broader accounting function. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical tax knowledge, strong leadership capabilities, and the ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare and file federal, state, and local income tax returns, sales and use tax returns, and all other required tax filings.
- Maintain and update the tax calendar and related tax processes.
- Prepare and update all tax accruals and tax payments.
- Prepare and/or review quarterly estimates of taxable income for tax returns.
- Compile data and update schedules and calculations associated with quarterly and annual tax provisions.
- Research and interpret tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance and identify tax planning opportunities.
- Manage tax audits and respond to inquiries from tax authorities, while supporting other internal and external audits.
- Develop and implement tax strategies to minimize tax liabilities.
- Monitor changes in tax legislation and assess their impact on the company.
- Manage and review the tax provision under ASC 740 or FIN 48, including the effective tax rate, deferred taxes, uncertain tax positions, tax valuation, and preparation of tax footnotes and financial statement disclosures.
- Prepare monthly account reconciliations on tax accounts.
- Collaborate with internal teams and business units to gather information required to calculate and properly report taxable income, state apportionment, tax provision, and other required statements and disclosures.
- Participate in special projects and initiatives as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Tax, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive tax and accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
- In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations in a corporate setting.
- Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Desired Skills and Qualifications:
- CPA certification preferred.
- Master's degree in Taxation.
- Experience with tax research software.
- Bilingual Mandarin a plus.
