What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pharmacy Tech - Voshell's Pharmacy - Baltimore, MD position at Hiring Pros?
Pharmacy Technician - Patient Experience | Precision | Growth
Location: Baltimore, MD
Status: Full Time
Compensation: $19 to $26 per hour
Highlights: 100-Year Legacy | Rapid Growth | Patient-First Culture
Why You'll Love Working Here
Voshell's Pharmacy has served Baltimore for over 100 years, and in 2026, we are more focused than ever. We focus on compounding, serving patients, physicians, and clinics across the country with customized medications that simply cannot be found on a commercial shelf. We are a small, high-performance team scaling fast, and the energy here reflects that. We move with the urgency of a growing company and the discipline of a precision operation, and that combination is what makes Voshell's genuinely different from any pharmacy you have worked in before.
This role is the front door of everything we do. Every patient who calls or walks in is dealing with something real, whether it is a chronic condition, a therapy their commercial pharmacy cannot fill, or a situation that is already stressful before they pick up the phone. You will be the first voice they hear and the first impression we make. Your job is not to process callers. Your job is to turn first-time patients into raving fans who call back, refer their doctors, and tell everyone they know that Voshell's is different. That kind of service is rare, and it is exactly what we are hiring for.
Our team operates with structure and clear standards. You will use PioneerRx as your primary pharmacy system for prescription entry, patient profiles, and refill processing. You will work closely with our pharmacist and compounding technicians, serving as the connection between our patients and our clinical team. Every process here exists for a reason, and you will be surrounded by colleagues who hold themselves to a high standard because that is simply who they are. This is not a coast-through-the-day environment, and if you are the kind of person who finds that motivating, you will feel right at home.
We are growing fast, with production scaling from five million to ten million this year, and the technician who joins us now will grow right alongside us. That means more responsibility, better pay, and a real voice in how we operate as we expand. We promote from within, support continuing education, and cover licensing fees because your development is part of our quality program, not an afterthought.
Baltimore is a city with real roots and a strong medical and scientific community, and Voshell's has been part of that community for a century. Working here means being part of something that physicians, clinics, and patients across the country genuinely rely on. You will know that the work you do helps real patients in the long term, and that kind of meaning is rare in any pharmacy role.

What We Value
- Patient First, Always - Every caller, every visitor, every patient in our system deserves your full attention and genuine care. We do not treat calls as transactions. We treat them as opportunities to make someone's difficult situation a little easier, and we expect our technicians to uphold that standard in every interaction.
- Accuracy Without Exception - A prescription entered incorrectly is not a minor mistake. It has consequences for a real patient. We expect zero-error data entry, verified before submission each time, because the people who depend on us cannot afford anything less.
- Ownership Mentality - When a patient has a problem, the right answer is never to pass it along and hope someone else solves it. You take it, you find the answer, and you follow through. Personal accountability is not optional here. It is part of what makes this team exceptional.
- Reliability - Our patients depend on our output, and our team depends on each other. Showing up on time, ready to work, every single day is a baseline expectation. Consistency is not optional. It is how this pharmacy functions and how patient care stays uninterrupted.
- Coachability and Growth - Feedback is part of how we maintain our standard. We expect this technician to receive it professionally, apply it immediately, and not repeat the same mistake. The people who advance here are those who take their own development seriously and treat every correction as an opportunity to improve.
What You'll Do
- Own the phones. Answer inbound calls from patients and prescribers with warmth, professionalism, and genuine care. Every caller should feel like the most important person you spoke with today.
- Enter prescriptions in PioneerRx with zero-error accuracy. Verify all patient information, drug details, strength, and prescriber data before submission. Flag any discrepancy before it moves forward.
- Manage the patient queue. Track prescription status, coordinate with the compounding team on timelines, and proactively communicate updates to patients before they have to ask.
- Handle prescription intake. Receive new prescriptions by phone, fax, and in person. Verify completeness and compliance before routing to the pharmacist.
- Resolve issues with full ownership. When a patient has a problem, a delay, an insurance issue, or a question, take ownership, find the answer, and follow up. Do not pass the problem down the chain without solving it.
- Maintain documentation. Keep patient records accurate in PioneerRx, document all interactions per standard operating procedure, and flag any data discrepancy immediately.
Compensation
- $19 to $26 per hour, depending on experience and PioneerRx proficiency
- Pay increases tied directly to performance and expanded scope
- Medical insurance
- Paid time off and pharmacy holidays
- Continuing education support and licensing fee reimbursement
- Rapid advancement as we scale. Technicians who perform earn more responsibility and higher pay.
Why This Job Stands Out
- Work That Actually Matters - Every patient who reaches out to Voshell's is dealing with a real medical need that commercial pharmacy cannot address. You are not processing standard refills or counting pills. You are the first voice a patient hears when they are navigating something difficult, and the care you bring to that interaction directly affects their experience and outcome.
- Real Growth in a Growing Company - We are doubling our production capacity this year, and the opportunities that are created are genuine. Technicians who perform earn more responsibility, better pay, and a real voice in how the operation runs. At most pharmacy jobs, advancement means waiting for someone to leave. Here, we are actively building and promoting from within.
- A Standard You Can Be Proud Of - We operate a 503A compounding pharmacy with strict quality standards, and everyone on this team holds themselves to that bar every day. If you have worked somewhere that cut corners and found it demoralizing, you will appreciate how different it feels to be surrounded by people who take their work as seriously as you do. Our standard is high because our patients deserve nothing less.
- Investment in Your Development - We support continuing education, cover licensing fees, and encourage our technicians to pursue national certification and expanded credentials. Whether you want to deepen your expertise in compounding or build toward a leadership role as we grow, Voshell's will support you on that path. Your development is part of how we operate, not an afterthought.
- A Century of Community Trust Behind You - Voshell's has served Baltimore for over 100 years. When you work here, you join a team that physicians, clinics, and patients across the country rely on and trust. That reputation is something every person on our team contributes to and benefits from. It is not just a job. It is a place where your work genuinely means something.
Who We're Looking For
Someone who is...
- Experienced with PioneerRx and comfortable using it as your primary system for prescription entry, patient profiles, and refill processing. This is a hard requirement, not a nice-to-have.
- Genuinely warm and service-oriented on the phone, someone who brings patience and professionalism to every call, including the 40th one of the day, and leaves every patient better than they arrived.
- Precise and accurate in data entry, someone who catches their own errors before they move forward and verifies every detail before submission, because they understand what is at stake.
- Reliable and consistent, showing up on time every day and ready to contribute from the first minute of the shift without needing to be managed or prompted.
- A real problem solver who takes ownership when something goes wrong and does not pass issues down the chain without resolving them.
- Receptive to feedback and committed to growth, someone who hears a correction, applies it immediately, and does not repeat the same mistake.
