Surgical Tech – Operating Room
Location: Milwaukee, WI 53233
Contract Dates: January 12 – April 11, 2026
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 6:30 AM – 5:00 PM (10-hour shifts, rotating off day)
Hours: 40/week
Call: Required (weeknight, weekend, and holiday call shared evenly)
About the Facility:
- Level IV Trauma Center
- Level III NICU
- Advanced Comprehensive Stroke Center
- 228-bed hospital
- 14 operating rooms
- Teaching facility with strong interdisciplinary support
- Average 20–23 cases per day
Case Mix & Specialties:
You’ll work across multiple services, with the heaviest volume in:
- Orthopedics (about 35% of cases)
- Gynecology
- General Surgery
Additional case types include:
- Bariatrics (robotic & laparoscopic)
- Plastics (breast reconstruction, biopsy)
- Urology (TURPs, cystoscopy, aquablation)
- GYN (ectopics, hysterectomies, D&C, hysteroscopy)
Robotics:
- DaVinci XI (required experience)
- Stryker Mako (primarily knee replacements)
No neuro, complex spine, or labor & delivery cases.
Requirements:
- BLS required
- CST preferred
- 2–3 years of OR experience (Surgical Tech)
- Strong scrub experience in GYN, Ortho, and General Surgery
First-time travelers: Accepted with 3 years of solid OR experience
Technology & Equipment
- EPIC (required)
- Alaris
- Pyxis
- iStat / Hemochron
- GE C-Arm (setup only; techs do not operate)
Orientation
- 3–5 days of orientation (8-hour shifts)
- Day 1: onboarding, system access, CBLs
- Remaining days: unit-based orientation with a preceptor
Call Expectations
- Weeknight, weekend, and holiday call based on unit needs
- Call shared evenly across the team
- Response time and schedules communicated during onboarding
