Production Supervisor – Automotive Manufacturing
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Production Supervisor to lead manufacturing teams in a fast-paced, high-volume, unionized automotive production environment. This role is responsible for driving safety, quality, productivity, and continuous improvement while ensuring production goals are achieved. The ideal candidate is a strong leader who thrives in a manufacturing setting and is passionate about developing teams and improving operational performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise multiple production teams to meet daily production, quality, and safety goals.
- Ensure production schedules are met while maintaining efficiency and minimizing downtime.
- Promote and enforce a safe work environment by following company safety policies and procedures.
- Monitor production performance, identify issues, and implement corrective actions.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing and other operational excellence methodologies.
- Analyze production and quality metrics to improve performance and reduce waste.
- Allocate staffing effectively, manage attendance, and support workforce planning.
- Train, coach, mentor, and develop team members to improve performance and engagement.
- Collaborate with maintenance, quality, engineering, and other departments to resolve production issues.
- Lead daily production meetings and communicate key performance metrics to leadership.
- Foster a positive team culture focused on accountability, quality, and continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Previous experience in an automotive manufacturing environment is required.
- Ability to work 1st or 2nd shift, overtime, and weekends as needed.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Ability to build effective working relationships across all levels of the organization.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a technical or related field.
- Two or more years of production supervisory experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
- Previous experience in a union manufacturing environment.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing, World Class Manufacturing (WCM), Six Sigma, Kaizen, or other continuous improvement systems.
- Proven success coaching, mentoring, and developing production teams.
