Job Description:
The Financial Analyst (Project Intake Analyst/Business Analyst) plays a key role on the Project Intake team, focusing on the evaluation and classification of software-related capital projects. This position ensures adherence to internal capitalization policies while supporting accurate financial reporting and governance of project activities.
Key Responsibilities
Project Intake & Assessment
- Review and validate incoming project requests for completeness, policy alignment, and strategic fit
- Ensure Statements of Work (SOWs) and supporting documentation meet standards
Capital vs. O&M Analysis
- Analyze project scope and costs to determine appropriate classification (CapEx vs. OpEx)
- Provide documentation and recommendations for accurate financial coding
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Partner with IT, Finance, and Project Management teams to support intake workflows
- Communicate findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Governance & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to internal financial policies and regulatory requirements
- Maintain documentation for audit and reporting purposes
Process Improvement
- Identify opportunities to streamline intake and classification processes
- Leverage tools such as JIRA, SharePoint, and AI (e.g., Copilot) to enhance efficiency
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, or related field
- 3–5 years of experience in project coordination, PMO support, business analysis, or finance operations
- Experience with capital project accounting, fixed assets, or budgeting preferred
- Strong understanding of CapEx vs. OpEx and financial governance principles 2
Preferred Skills
- Experience with project intake processes (IT/software or hardware projects)
- Proficiency in JIRA and SharePoint
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
