Staff Accountant

Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Staff Accountant to join our corporate accounting team. This role will be responsible for supporting the monthly close process, maintaining general ledger accuracy, performing account reconciliations, preparing financial reports, and assisting with compliance and audit activities. The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently in a fast-paced, multi-location environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and post monthly journal entries and maintain general ledger accuracy
- Perform complex account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
- Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities
- Prepare financial statements, schedules, and management reports
- Analyze financial results and investigate variances from budget and prior periods
- Maintain fixed asset records and related depreciation schedules
- Assist with payroll accounting, accruals, and other recurring accounting processes
- Support sales tax, property tax, business license, and other regulatory reporting requirements
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis projects
- Coordinate with external auditors and assist with annual audit requests
- Review accounting transactions for compliance with company policies and accounting standards
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and increased efficiencies
- Assist with special projects and other accounting initiatives as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting required
- 3 years of accounting experience preferred
- Strong understanding of GAAP and general accounting principles
- Experience with month-end close, reconciliations, and financial reporting
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Experience with accounting software and ERP systems
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a corporate or multi-location environment
- Experience supporting audits and regulatory reporting
- Public accounting experience a plus
