The Opportunity
A leading, multi-site healthcare organization is seeking an Executive Director of Strategic Initiatives to help shape and execute some of the most important growth and transformation priorities across the enterprise.
Reporting to a senior executive overseeing operations and growth, this individual will work closely with executive leadership to translate strategic priorities into actionable plans and drive them through execution. The role offers significant exposure across the organization and the opportunity to influence both near-term performance and the longer-term strategic direction of a large and complex healthcare enterprise.
This is an excellent opportunity for a high-performing strategy or healthcare consultant looking to transition into an operating environment where they can move beyond recommendations and take direct ownership of enterprise-level initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and execution of enterprise-wide growth, strategy, and transformation initiatives that support the organization’s long-term objectives.
- Work closely with executive leadership to shape annual priorities and define the organization’s broader strategic direction.
- Translate enterprise strategy into actionable operating plans, initiatives, milestones, and measurable business outcomes.
- Build and lead an Enterprise Program Management Office (EPMO) to prioritize, govern, and accelerate the organization’s highest-impact strategic initiatives.
- Lead complex, cross-functional programs spanning operations, finance, growth, clinical leadership, analytics, and other critical functions.
- Drive strategic growth initiatives, including the planning, development, and execution of new locations and other significant enterprise investments.
- Develop business cases, financial models, KPIs, and performance dashboards to assess opportunities, support decision-making, and track results.
- Proactively identify execution risks, dependencies, and organizational barriers, partnering with stakeholders to resolve issues and maintain progress.
- Bring structure, clarity, and accountability to complex and ambiguous initiatives involving multiple teams and stakeholders.
- Establish and apply project management and change management disciplines to strengthen execution, improve organizational effectiveness, and keep critical initiatives on track.
- Prepare executive-level presentations, analyses, and recommendations that distill complex information into clear priorities, insights, progress updates, and decisions required.
- Foster a culture centered on accountability, adaptability, continuous improvement, and data-informed decision-making.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will combine strong strategic thinking and analytical capabilities with a demonstrated ability to turn strategy into measurable results. This leader should be equally comfortable engaging with senior executives on enterprise-level priorities and diving into the details necessary to move complex initiatives forward.
Successful candidates will bring:
- 5 years of experience in strategy consulting, healthcare consulting, corporate strategy, transformation, or another highly rigorous strategic environment.
- Meaningful experience within healthcare, preferably involving physician organizations, healthcare providers, ambulatory care, health systems, or other complex healthcare delivery environments.
- A proven track record of developing and executing growth strategies, transformation initiatives, operating models, or other enterprise-scale programs.
- Strong financial acumen and analytical skills, including experience building business cases, evaluating investments, and using data to inform strategic decisions.
