Position Overview
The Estimating Manager will be responsible for preparing accurate, timely, and competitive cost estimates and formal proposals for highway and municipal construction projects. This role plays a key part in supporting business growth and profitability through strategic bidding and collaboration with internal teams.
- Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates and proposals for TxDOT, NTTA, and city-led construction projects.
- Review and interpret blueprints, specifications, and other documentation to determine project scope and estimate costs.
- Identify discrepancies in bid documentation and clearly communicate any scope changes.
- Use historical data, vendor pricing, and industry benchmarks to build competitive pricing models.
- Collaborate with project managers and leadership to evaluate project risks, resource needs, and timelines.
- Track the status of bids and maintain up-to-date performance metrics.
- Generate purchase orders and coordinate with suppliers during the estimating process.
- Support ongoing project needs by pricing change orders and updates to existing estimates.
- Stay current with industry trends and technical skills through training, workshops, and continuous learning.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in construction estimating, preferably on TxDOT or municipal electrical projects.
- Solid knowledge of traffic signal systems, ITS (Intelligent Transportation Systems), roadway signage, highway illumination, and general electrical infrastructure.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the broader Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
- Excellent verbal communication and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple deadlines, and deliver consistently.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil or Electrical Engineering, or a related field is preferred (not required).
- Strong preference for candidates located in the Dallas–Fort Worth metro area.
- Experience working with subcontractors, municipal contractors, or general contractors with related experience.
- Familiarity with TxDOT specifications and municipal construction practices is a strong plus.
