Position Summary

The Director of Strategic Sourcing is responsible for leading and managing the procurement and coordination of materials, equipment, and services necessary for construction-related projects. This role involves developing strategic partnerships with suppliers, ensuring the efficient flow of materials, and optimizing costs. The Director will also coordinate with project managers, engineers, and other departments to streamline operations and ensure timely project delivery.

Responsibilities

• Direct supplier sourcing, selection, negotiations, and contract management to achieve optimal cost, quality, service, and delivery outcomes.

• Manage the end-to-end procurement cycle, including requisitions, sourcing, purchasing, order fulfillment, and delivery of essential materials and services.

• Assess, select, and develop strategic supplier relationships while ensuring vendors consistently meet established standards for quality, pricing, reliability, and performance.

• Identify and implement innovative sourcing strategies and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance procurement effectiveness.

• Oversee the integration and standardization of procurement processes following business acquisitions, ensuring continuity and operational efficiency.

• Establish and monitor supplier performance metrics related to delivery, pricing, quality, and service, addressing performance issues and driving corrective actions when necessary.

• Develop and oversee the purchasing budget, track spending, analyze procurement costs, and identify opportunities to reduce expenses and improve value.

• Lead, coach, and develop procurement specialists, project coordinators, and support personnel, providing ongoing direction, training, and professional development.

• Ensure procurement practices align with applicable industry requirements, safety standards, regulatory guidelines, and internal company policies.

• Develop and maintain supply chain risk mitigation strategies to proactively address potential disruptions, shortages, and supplier-related challenges.

• Partner with Operations, Engineering, Finance, and other internal teams to understand project needs, timelines, and specifications while identifying sourcing opportunities and managing supply risks.

• Evaluate, implement, and continuously enhance procurement technology and systems to automate processes, improve visibility, increase efficiency, and support future business requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Procurement, or a related discipline; professional certifications are a plus.

• 8 years of progressive experience in purchasing or procurement, preferably within the construction, building products, or related industry.

• Strong negotiation, communication, relationship-building, and interpersonal skills.

• Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to manage, motivate, and develop high-performing teams.

• Strong understanding of procurement practices, sourcing methodologies, industry standards, and applicable regulations.

• Proficiency with procurement systems, sourcing platforms, and Microsoft Office Suite.
