Women-Owned Flexible Food Packaging — Greater Austin, TX
Location: Dripping Springs, TX (Austin area preferred; open to relocation with assistance for the right candidate)
Hours: Full-time; flexible and family-friendly schedule
Compensation: $75–80K base bonus; flexible for the right candidate, based on experience
Reports to: President & Owner and COO
Required
Our client is a WBENC-certified, women-owned flexible food packaging company headquartered in the greater Austin area. Founded in 1999, the company designs, prints, and supplies lidding films, barrier films, form-fill-seal films, bundling films, stand-up pouches, and custom PE packaging to food and consumer goods manufacturers across the U.S. They serve customers in dairy, frozen foods, snacks, beverages, soups and sauces, and pet care. The company operates an asset-light, partner-network model, collaborating with extrusion, lamination, and printing facilities in North America, South Korea, and India while maintaining a domestic warehouse in Kansas City, KS.
The company is in an active growth phase (up 10% last year and on track to reach $10M in revenue) and is now building out its leadership team to support that trajectory. This Director of Operations role is a key hire: the person in it will become the operational backbone of the company and ultimately take on increasing responsibility as they grow into the role.
What You'll Do
Our client is a small, tight-knit team of 5–6 people who genuinely care about each other and operate with a family-oriented culture. Flexibility around life outside of work is important to the culture. The company has structure, policies, and procedures in place, but still rewards entrepreneurial thinking and people who bring new ideas. If you want a role where you can make a visible, meaningful impact from day one, where no two days look the same, and where your loyalty and integrity are recognized and valued, this is that environment.
This role also has real upward potential. The company is actively growing and intends to expand the team, and the right person will grow with the company into broader operational leadership over time.
The Culture
The leadership team is fiercely loyal, collaborative, and committed to each other's success. They want someone who thrives in a small-company environment, communicates openly, and shows up as a true team player. Transparency and integrity are the qualities leadership cares about most.

What You'll Do
- Process and manage daily orders and invoicing: Handle customer purchase orders end-to-end in QuickBooks, including payables, receivables, and invoicing — this is the core rhythm of the role.
- Own inventory management: Track and manage inventory across 6–7 supplier locations, anticipating shortages, reconciling stock, and keeping detailed, accurate records.
- Coordinate logistics: Manage the movement of orders from suppliers through Kansas City and out to 40 customer plants nationwide, tracking shipments and expediting as needed.
- Support supplier relationships and negotiations: Work directly with existing suppliers to solve problems, manage performance, and negotiate terms; assist in onboarding new suppliers and transitioning away from underperforming ones.
- Deliver exceptional customer service: Serve as a responsive, solutions-oriented point of contact for customers — SPI's entire value proposition is built on service, and this role is central to delivering it.
- Troubleshoot and problem-solve daily: Every day brings something different; you'll need to identify issues quickly, communicate clearly, and resolve them with urgency.
- Maintain compliance documentation: Track certification and supplier document expirations, keep records current, and flag renewals proactively.
- Work cross-functionally with the team: Collaborate with the President, COO, and the broader commercial team in HubSpot and OneDrive to keep operations and sales aligned.
