AutoCAD / Civil 3D Technician

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced AutoCAD / Civil 3D Technician to support civil engineering and utility infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will transform field and survey data into accurate construction plans, design drawings, and as-built record drawings.
This position requires strong hands-on AutoCAD Civil 3D experience, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with engineers and field personnel.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed design drawings and construction plans using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Develop alignments, profiles, plan production, and other civil design documents.
- Convert Trimble GPS data and field notes into accurate as-built drawings.
- Prepare and maintain construction and record drawings in accordance with established drafting standards.
- Maintain quality, consistency, and accuracy across CAD deliverables.
- Assist with field data management, documentation, and archiving.
- Support improvements to CAD workflows and drafting processes.
- Collaborate with engineers and field personnel to identify and resolve design or data discrepancies.
- Provide informal guidance and mentoring to junior drafting staff.
- Manage assigned drafting projects independently and meet project deadlines.
Required Qualifications
- 5 years of relevant CAD drafting/design experience in a civil engineering environment.
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D is mandatory.
- Solid understanding of civil design principles, survey data, coordinate systems, and projections.
- Experience preparing construction plans and technical drawings.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's degree in drafting, civil engineering, or a related field.
- Autodesk Certified Professional (ACP) certification.
- Experience with utility, water infrastructure, pipeline, or similar civil construction projects.
- Experience working with Trimble GPS and field survey data.
- Experience with GIS platforms such as ArcGIS or QGIS.
- Basic scripting or VBA experience.
- Experience producing as-built/record drawings from field information.
