Vice President of Finance & Accounting

Summary:
Our client is searching for a Vice President of Finance & Accounting. The Vice President of Finance & Accounting will be responsible for taking ownership of the organization’s day-to-day finance and accounting functions while serving as a key business partner across the organization, helping connect financial performance to day-to-day operations and the overall growth of the business.
The Vice President of Finance & Accounting should have at least seven years of relevant finance and accounting experience, along with a bachelor’s degree in a related field.
Vice President of Finance & Accounting Job Requirements:
- 10 years in accounting / finance
- Prior Controller or Director of Accounting role
- Experience in: Multi-entity / multi-location businesses and $100M revenue companies
Strong preference for:
- Equipment distribution
- Dealership model
- Industrial or service-based business
- ERP systems (especially eEmphasys or similar dealer systems)
- Service-based accounting (WIP, labor, billing cadence)
- Inventory-heavy businesses
- CPA (not required if operationally strong)
Vice President of Finance & Accounting Job Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting & Close Discipline
- Own full month-end close across multiple entities
- Ensure: Accuracy, Consistency, Speed
- Deliver clear, actionable financial reporting (not just statements)
Cash & Liquidity Management
- Own: Weekly cash reporting, Borrowing base, 13-week cash forecast
- Partner with CEO on: Liquidity planning, Bank communication
Operational Accounting Leadership
- Deep involvement in: Service WIP and billing cadence, Parts and inventory controls, Rental accounting (utilization, depreciation, ROI)
- Ensure alignment between: Accounting, Operations, Reality
Process & Systems Discipline (ERP Focus)
- Own and improve eEmphasys ERP environment
- Drive: Standardization across branches, Clean workflows, Reduced manual workarounds
- Partner with IT / vendors but own outcomes internally
Team Leadership
- Lead and develop: Accounting team, Controllers (if multi-entity evolves)
- Set clear expectations: Accountability, Deadlines, Quality standards
Audit, Compliance & Controls
- Lead external audit process (Plante Moran)
- Ensure: Clean audits, Strong internal controls
- Own tax coordination and compliance
Business Partnership
- Work directly with: CEO, Operations leaders
- Provide: Insight (not just data), Pushback when needed
- Help drive financial accountability across branches
