Piping Estimator
We are seeking a Piping Estimator to join our team. This role is responsible for preparing detailed cost estimates for large-scale and complex projects, ensuring competitive and accurate bids. The ideal candidate will analyze project requirements, source materials and subcontractor bids, and maintain cost databases while working collaboratively with internal teams and external partners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze construction documents to determine project scope and requirements.
- Utilize Quick-Pen or similar estimating software for take-offs and cost estimates.
- Identify inconsistencies or missing information in bid documents and submit RFIs.
- Review RFQs, RFPs, and bid documents for accuracy and completeness.
- Secure and validate pricing from vendors and subcontractors.
- Ensure estimates are completed accurately and on schedule.
- Maintain and update internal cost databases for labor and materials.
- Prepare detailed clarifications and exclusions to refine project bids.
- Develop and nurture relationships with vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Perform material and labor take-offs to ensure cost accuracy.
- Provide cost analysis summaries, compiling material, labor, equipment, and subcontractor expenses.
- Evaluate estimated costs vs. actual costs for continuous improvement.
- Participate in internal meetings and contribute to project turnover documentation.
- Support teambuilding efforts within the department and across business units.
Qualifications & Skills:
- 8–10 years of experience in estimating or an equivalent combination of education and relevant expertise.
- Strong knowledge of cost estimation techniques, material take-offs, and bid preparation.
- Ability to interpret bid documents, blueprints, scopes of work, and safety requirements.
- Proficiency in Quick-Pen or similar estimating software is highly preferred.
- Strong attention to detail, ensuring accurate cost projections and thorough estimates.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present information to clients and internal teams.
- Experience in cost control and post-estimate analysis.
- Proven ability to build strong relationships with vendors, subcontractors, and industry professionals.
- A team-oriented mindset with strong collaboration skills.
