Role Overview
The Testing and Automation Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining automated testing solutions that ensure the quality, reliability, and performance of software applications and services. This role partners with Software Engineering, Product, and DevOps teams to embed quality throughout the software development lifecycle while expanding automation coverage and supporting continuous delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain automated tests for UI, API, and backend services, including functional, integration, regression, and end-to-end testing.
- Collaborate with Software Engineers and Product teams to define test scenarios, acceptance criteria, and quality objectives throughout the development lifecycle.
- Maintain and enhance test automation frameworks and integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines to support continuous testing.
- Identify, document, and track software defects through resolution while performing root-cause analysis in partnership with engineering teams.
- Design and execute performance, load, and stress testing using industry-standard performance engineering tools.
- Utilize AI-assisted testing tools for test case generation, test data creation, coverage analysis, and improved defect detection.
- Participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, and retrospectives to promote quality-first development practices.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 3–6 years of experience in software testing, quality engineering, or test automation roles.
- Experience with software testing methodologies and automated testing practices.
- Proficiency with automation tools and frameworks such as Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, REST-assured, Postman, or similar technologies.
- Hands-on experience with performance testing tools including JMeter, Gatling, k6, Locust, or equivalent.
- Experience using AI-assisted testing tools and practices.
- Ability to read, write, and debug test scripts using Java, JavaScript, Python, C#, or similar programming languages.
- Understanding of REST APIs, service-oriented architectures, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing concepts.
- Bachelor's degree preferred in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field; equivalent practical experience will be considered.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the country where the position is based.
