Job Overview
We are seeking experienced, passionate and dedicated Volunteer Flag Football and Basketball Coaches to join our Hindman Park Community team.
The ideal candidates will have a strong background in flag football, basketball and sports coaching, with the ability to inspire and motivate students to develop their skills both on and off the court. This role involves recruiting and teaching fundamental flag football and basketball techniques, fostering teamwork, and promoting a positive sportsmanship culture among players.
The position begins as a Volunteer but will transition into a paid position of $15 - $20 per hour through attained grants.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement practice plans that enhance players' skills and understanding of the game.
- Conduct training sessions focusing on individual skill development, team strategies, and game preparation.
- Organize and lead team practices, ensuring a safe and productive environment for all participants.
- Evaluate player performance and provide constructive feedback to help them improve.
- Foster teamwork, discipline, and respect among players while promoting a positive attitude towards competition.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and administration regarding player progress and team activities.
- Collaborate with other coaches to create a well-rounded athletic program that supports student athletes' overall development.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of flag football and basketball techniques, strategies, and rules.
- Experience in sports coaching or teaching physical education is highly desirable.
- Background in any other sports can be an asset.
- Ability to work effectively with students of varying skill levels and ages.
- Excellent communication skills to engage with students, parents, and staff.
- Strong leadership qualities to motivate and inspire athletes.
- Experience working with students in varying degrees of weather, in a gym or similar environment is preferred.
- Additional skills such as professional development, life skills and teaching experience can enhance coaching effectiveness.
