Salary Range: $16.00 - $17.00 per hour

Hilton Pearl River, a full-service luxury hotel located 25 minutes from New York City in Rockland County (NY) and bordering Bergen County (NJ), is seeking an organized, energetic, hands-on professional to join our exceptional team as Restaurant Host(ess).

Our Host(ess) will greet guests entering the restaurant and seat them in a timely manner. Ensure checks are opened and closed per department standards. The Host(ess) has a strong commitment to customer service, able to anticipate guests’ needs.

Specific Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Able to work a flexible schedule that includes weekends and most holidays
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time, and to bend and lift as needed
• Greet and interact with guests in a friendly and professional manner
• Seat all guests in a timely and courteous fashion. Clear extra settings if not needed. Present menu to each guest or direct to buffet
• Answer telephone and take reservations
• Familiar with menus and food offerings
• Provide hotel information to guests as needed including recreation and amenities.
• Keep work area/podium clean and organized. Menus should be wiped down at the end of each shift and replaced if wrinkled or soiled
• Communicate with kitchen and staff to ensure buffet is replenished for dining guests
• Be knowledgeable about the available tables, who is covering each section and how to seat guests alternately in each section
• Open and close restaurant checks
• Perform preparation of guest checks and collection of payments in compliance with cash handling, credit card transactions, room charge processing and accounting policies and procedures
• Ensure maintenance problems are promptly reported to Engineering through proper channels
• Respond to guest requests, concerns and problems to ensure guest satisfaction
• On time and at work when scheduled, and in proper dress standards
• Attend department meetings as scheduled
• Consistent professional and positive attitude and actions when communicating with guests and team members
• Report all incidents of guest dissatisfaction or other matters of significance to manager / supervisor so that corrective measures may be taken
• Comply with policies and procedures
• Practice safe work habits and comply with sanitary, safety, security and emergency procedures
• Write shift reports including reports on any incidents of theft, accidents or injuries when assigned
• Check with manager / supervisor before leaving work area for any reason
• Perform special projects and other responsibilities as assigned
• Schedule is every Wednesday - Friday 4:30PM - 9:00PM and every Saturday and Sunday, 6:00AM - 12:30PM.

Education:

• Any combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. High school diploma required.
• Minimum 1 year experience.
• Must be a highly organized individual with the ability to handle numerous tasks at a time
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Must be a team player with a positive attitude
• Flexible - must be able to work a flexible schedule to include weekends, night and holidays
• Able to walk, stand for long periods of time spanning at least 8 hours
• Ability to work extended hours, holidays and weekends
• Must be impeccably presented with excellent manners and poise to match
• The Host(ess) will be someone who is not content to offer an average dining experience; they want to contribute to building a superb restaurant's reputation
