Hilo Benioff Medical Center is seeking a reliable and hardworking Laundry Worker to support our essential laundry operations. In this role, you will help ensure that all hospital departments have a consistent supply of clean, sanitary linens and garments—directly contributing to patient safety, infection control, and overall quality of care. Your work behind the scenes plays a vital role in keeping our healthcare environment safe and efficient.
Key Responsibilities:
- Sort, wash, dry, and process large volumes of soiled linens and garments using industrial laundry equipment
- Operate washers, dryers, and related machinery while following proper procedures and safety protocols
- Fold, organize, and prepare clean linens for distribution across hospital units
- Deliver clean linens and collect soiled items from various hospital departments and off-site facilities using hospital vehicles as needed
- Maintain cleanliness of the laundry area, including equipment, floors, and workspaces, in accordance with infection control standards Perform routine maintenance tasks such as cleaning lint traps, tracking daily loads, and assisting with general upkeep of equipment
Required Qualifications: To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements. Please note that unless specifically indicated, the required education and experiences may not be gained concurrently. In addition, qualifying work experience is credited based on a 40-hour workweek.
Experience: One (1) year of commercial or institutional laundering experience or any equivalent combination of experience and training.
Licenses & Certifications:
- Valid Type 3 State of Hawaii Driver’s License required. Evidence of license and original copy of traffic abstract will be required.
The ideal candidate will have the ability to operate laundry equipment, follow instructions, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Physical stamina, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety are essential for success in this role.

Pre-Employment Health Requirements
Offers of employment will be contingent on successfully passing a pre-employment examination, which includes a drug screen and other regulatory medical requirements such as, but not limited to, a tuberculosis (TB) screen. The cost for drug screening and blood draw for QuantiFERON and Titers, shall be borne by the Hawaii Health Systems Corporation.
