Kindergarten Teaching Assistant (32-40 hours per week)
K–8 Arts-Integrated Charter School
We’re seeking a caring, patient, and collaborative Kindergarten Teaching Assistant to support a vibrant early childhood classroom in our small, arts-integrated charter school. This role is designed for someone who loves working with young children and is committed to equitable, inclusive education—especially through providing thoughtful, individualized support.
A key component of this position includes supporting students with additional needs, and working closely with teachers and specialists to ensure each student can grow academically, socially, and emotionally.
Schedule
- 32–40 hours per week
- Position may include recess, lunch, or after-school coverage
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Successful completion of a CORI/background check
Preferred Qualifications
- 1 year of experience working with young children or students with disabilities
- Experience or interest in inclusive, student-centered early childhood education
What You’ll DoIn the Classroom:
- Foster a warm, safe, joyful learning environment with the classroom teacher
- Provide one-on-one and small-group support during lessons, centers, and play-based learning
- Support students with transitions, routines, self-regulation, and foundational academic skills
- Offer observational feedback to the classroom teacher and SPED team about student needs and progress
- Supervise the class when the teacher is temporarily unavailable (lesson plans provided)
- Attend planning meetings, SPED consultations, and professional development
Special Education Support & Individualized Services
- Provide daily services to assigned students as outlined in their IEPs
- Implement accommodations, modifications, and visual supports as directed by the SPED team
- Follow and support Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs), including implementing strategies for reinforcement, de-escalation, and skill-building
- Collect ongoing data on student progress, behaviors, and interventions; submit documentation according to school procedures
- Collaborate with special educators, related service providers, and the classroom teacher to adjust supports as needed
Classroom Support
- Prepare and organize materials for lessons, centers, and hands-on activities
- Assist with clerical tasks such as organizing student work or tracking assignments
- Help create classroom visuals, displays, and student work showcases
School-Wide Responsibilities
- Supervise students during lunch, recess, or other unstructured times as assigned
- Contribute to after-school programs when needed
- Support an inclusive, positive school climate
- Maintain student confidentiality and follow all staff policies
Supervision & Evaluation
- Report to the classroom teacher, SPED team, and the Director of Student Support
- Participate in performance check-ins throughout the year
- Take part in a formal performance evaluation in the spring

Pay: $18.60 - $23.85 per hour
