Summary:
The Resource Teacher, District, Speech-Language-Hearing (SLH), Pre-K, will provide technical assistance, diagnostic and therapeutic support, training and coordination of services for Pre-K students, supervision to SLH staff, and training to school and district staff. This position reports directly to the Supervisor for Speech-Language-Hearing. All Speech-Language Pathologists must hold a master's degree.

Responsibilities:
- Provides training and support to district and Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) Head Start personnel.
- Coordinates referrals, screenings, evaluations, and provision of speech and/or language therapy services for Pre-K students in daycare settings, BOCC Head Start, and schools.
- Attends eligibility meetings for BOCC Head Start students and participates in weekly Child Study Team (CST) meetings.
- Responds to preschool parent’s requests for information, screenings, and assistance with scheduling of therapy.
- Reviews and processes student resource folders, student data entry, and Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) documentation.
- Reviews new diagnostic tools, make recommendations, and provide technical support to the Speech and Language program as needed.
- Provides supervision to graduate externs and district Speech-Language Pathologist.
- Reviews Federal and State laws and guidelines regarding provision of speech and/or language services for Pre-k students to provide updates and changes in district procedures and policies.
- Demonstrates a strong working knowledge of best practices in specified content area.
- Develops and conducts professional development for targeted audience in specific content areas regarding instructional strategies, best practices, and specific instructional topics.
- Provides coaching to targeted audience to improve instruction, classroom organization, classroom management, and effective implementation of district-provided resources.
- Conducts data conferences with classroom teachers to interpret data and plan instruction.
- Models effective teaching techniques when presenting to groups and other professionals.
- Assists specified content supervisors in developing model lesson plans and curriculum development.
- Meets regularly with building administrators regarding classroom practices and provides on going feedback with specified content supervisor.
- Continues to develop professional expertise through professional readings, training, and conferences.
- Performs any other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to perform this job successfully.
Education: A master’s degree. Degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders or related field required.
Experience: Three (3) years of increasingly responsible experience in the provision of speech and/or language therapy, with three (3) years of related management or supervisory experience required. Supervision of Clinical Fellow, mentor SLP, and/or graduate extern experience preferred.
Certificates/Licenses/Registrations: Florida Professional Educator Certificate and/or Department of Health License, and hold current Certificate of Clinical Competency.
Language Skills: Reads, analyzes, and interprets all kinds of documents. Responds to inquiries or complaints from employees, regulatory agencies, or community. Writes speeches and effectively presents to managers, the public, and school board.
Mathematical Skills: Works with math concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of geometry and trigonometry. Applies concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability: Solves practical problems and deals with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Interprets a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills: Microsoft Office.
