Physical Education position available for the 26-27 school year at Jefferson High School. This position includes HOPE, Weightlifting, ACCESS HOPE, and Head Football Coach. We have a great team and a great campus, and we are looking for a great coach to join our Dragon Family! Hours are 7:45AM to 3:45PM. Summary:

The Physical Education and/or Dance Education Teacher is responsible for the instruction of the specified content area in a classroom setting within grade levels K-12.

Responsibilities:
• Designs and implements appropriate instruction assigned in accordance with state standards, district curriculum, and students' needs.
• Creates a positive educational climate for students to learn in an atmosphere of respect and rapport.
• Creates and delivers relevant and rigorous lessons that maximize student engagement and achievement.
• Utilizes a variety of teaching practices and methodologies that reflect diverse educational, cultural and linguistic backgrounds in order to meet the individual needs of students.
• Observes and evaluates student performance and mastery of standards, monitors student assessment data, and maintains student grades and attendance.
• Manages student behavior in the classroom by utilizing effective classroom management strategies and invoking appropriate disciplinary procedures.
• Communicates with parents and school/district personnel regarding student progress and encourages parental involvement.
• Takes all responsible precautions to provide for the health and safety of students and to protect equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Appropriately maintains and secures confidential records, inquiries, and data.
• Maintains appropriate certifications and professional development hours as required.
• Performs any other duties as assigned.

Certificates/Licenses/Registrations: Florida Professional Educator Certificate in Physical Education or Dance Education is preferred. Eligibility for Florida Temporary Certificate in the content area is required.

Language Skills: Reads, analyzes, and interprets all kinds of documents. Responds to inquiries or complaints from employees, regulatory agencies, or community. Writes speeches and effectively presents to managers, the public, and school board.

Mathematical Skills: Works with math concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of geometry and trigonometry. Applies concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability: Solves practical problems and deals with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Interprets a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills: Microsoft Office

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Physical Activities: Standing, walking, sitting, balancing, stooping, kneeling, handling, keyboarding, talking and hearing.

Lifting Demands: Up to 10 pounds.

Reaching Activities: Both dominant and non-dominant hand; overhead.

Environmental Conditions: Noise Intensity 3 moderate.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: This position requires working in various climates and weather conditions, including outdoor and indoor areas. This position requires the employee to supervise students in order to ensure safety in all student areas, including but not limited to locker rooms, outdoor fields, studio, etc.
