What are the responsibilities and job description for the Design Engineer position at Hillsboro Industries?
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of new products from concept through production
- Create 3D CAD models, detailed engineering drawings and technical documentation.
- Analyze designs and develop/test prototypes for fabricated structural assemblies.
- Collaborate with marketing and customer teams to translate user needs into product specifications
- Support Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Automation, Design for Assembly (DFA) and Packaging principles in all designs.
- Work closely with suppliers and manufacturers to evaluate materials, processes and tooling options
- Participate in design reviews and contribute to continuous product and process improvement
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and safety standards applicable to the industry (NHTSA, etc.)
- Manage engineering change orders (ECO), bill of materials (BOM) and product lifecycle documentation (ECN)
- BS degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Strong grasp of principles in Structural Analysis
- Basic understanding of electrical systems
- Minimum of one year work experience
- 3 years performing and analyzing FEA Structural analysis
- 3 Years in a mechanical design position or related field
