What are the responsibilities and job description for the Concrete Pump Operator / Mechanic / Operations Management position at Hillcrest Concrete Pumping LLC?
Join the Hillcrest Concrete Pumping Team
At Hillcrest Concrete Pumping, we don't just move concrete—we make job sites run smoother and help build projects people are proud of. We're a growing, service-driven company that works alongside contractors, concrete finishers, and project managers to get the job done right. And just as importantly, we're building a workplace where people actually look forward to coming to work.
We're looking for a hands-on, motivated team member to join us in a role that combines concrete pump operation, equipment maintenance, and operations management.
Your days will be a mix of running the pump on job sites, keeping our fleet in top shape, solving problems, and helping us find better ways to operate. No two days are exactly the same—and that's part of the fun.
This is an opportunity for someone who doesn't just want to do a job, but wants to learn, take responsibility, make an impact, and grow with a company.
What You'll Be Doing
Concrete Pump Operation
- Operating concrete pumps safely and efficiently.
- Working closely with contractors and crews to deliver great service.
- Learning our equipment, procedures, and standards.
- Taking pride in your work and the projects you help build.
Equipment Maintenance & Troubleshooting (Assisting the head mechanic)
- Performing routine maintenance and repairs on our pumps and trucks.
- Troubleshooting mechanical issues on heavy equipment.
- Identifying problems before they become major failures.
- Helping keep our equipment clean, safe, reliable, and ready to work.
- Helping develop better ways to maintain and care for our equipment.
Operations Management & Improvement
As you learn the business and demonstrate your ability, you'll take on increasing responsibility for helping manage and improve our operations.
You'll be expected to think beyond the task in front of you and look for ways to make the company better.
This may include:
- Identifying problems and finding practical solutions.
- Thinking outside the box to find better ways of doing things.
- Developing and improving systems and procedures for our operators.
- Helping improve equipment maintenance, inspections, cleaning, and operating procedures.
- Helping evaluate new equipment, technology, tools, products, and supplies.
- Researching and comparing vendors and helping determine what products and equipment provide the best value.
- Helping implement new technology, equipment, and systems.
- Developing better ways to train and support employees.
- Helping establish consistent standards for our team.
- Taking ownership of projects and following them through to completion.
- Looking for ways to save time, reduce costs, improve efficiency, and increase profitability.
- Bringing solutions, not just problems to the table.
You won't be expected to know everything when you start. We're looking for someone who has the ability and desire to learn, think, take initiative, and grow into greater responsibility.
What We're Looking For
- CDL required
- Mechanical background and comfort working on heavy equipment.
- Willingness to learn concrete pump operation—experience is not required.
- High energy and strong work ethic.
- A "figure-it-out" mindset.
- Someone who enjoys solving problems and learning how things work.
- Someone who can think outside the box.
- Someone who takes ownership rather than waiting to be told what to do.
- Someone who can work independently while also being a strong team player.
- Someone who communicates well and treats customers and coworkers with respect.
- Someone who values integrity, teamwork, accountability, and doing the job right.
- Someone who wants more than just a job—they want to grow with a company.

Our goal isn't simply to give you a job. We want to help you achieve your personal, professional, and financial goals.

And if you're willing to invest in the company, we want to invest in you.
Why Hillcrest?
We know concrete pumping is a niche business, and most people don't grow up dreaming about it—but once you're in, you'll see why it's rewarding.

We believe when people enjoy what they do and who they work with, everyone wins.
We're also building a company where people can take ownership, make decisions, contribute ideas, and grow rather than simply punch a clock.
