What are the responsibilities and job description for the Insurance Defense Paralegal position at Hill Wallack LLP?
Hill Wallack LLP is seeking a litigation paralegal with 3 years minimum experience in civil litigation, insurance defense and/or employment matters.
The following is a summary of job duties:
- Review and analyze file documents (i.e. company or claim files)
- Determine and identify relevant information, witnesses, third party documents and information for subpoenas.
- Prepare, index and analyze written and paper discovery and prepare litigation and trial binders
- Prepare subpoenas, public records requests, and authorizations.
- Work with preferred vendors for record retrieval, expert retention, depositions/court reporters, private investigators.
- Handle and collaborate on scheduling of depositions, expert exams and client meetings or witness interviews.
- Prepare various discovery requests, responses, and summaries of same.
- Summarize various records (medical; employment; tax; educational; surveillance, etc.)
- Prepare detailed medical chronology and medical billing chart.
- Gather relevant documents for attorney’s use in upcoming depositions, meetings, telephone conferences, trial etc.
- Westlaw Next research to locate witnesses and obtain background information.
- Social media research.
- Locate and work with fact and experts witnesses for independent medical examinations, site inspections, trial, depositions etc.
- Identify, retain and work with investigators or experts
- Prepare trial disclosures; trial notebooks; and exhibits for use at trial.
- Bill and enter time.
- Handle multiple files, cases and legal projects of various types.
- Maintain and follow a diary system for compliance and meeting deadlines.
Salary : $50,000 - $60,000
