With the goal of increasing the prevalence and quality of long-term recovery from substance use disorders in adults and youth, the Peer Recovery Support Services Team Lead will develop, implement, and coordinate peer recovery support services that enhance quality of life, resiliency, and increase social contribution and connection through sustained engagement. Provide access to adult and youth peer recovery support services in Region 8, according to Be Well Texas contracts. In addition, this role is responsible for the supervision and oversight of the Hill Country MHDD Centers' Substance Use Services, Peer Recovery Support, and Youth Peer Recovery Support team.
You will get to:
- Incorporate a recovery-oriented approach into the development, implementation, and coordination of peer recovery support services for adults and youth.
- Establish effective linkages between other community-based organizations and recovery support organizations, SUD treatment programs, and other sources of support within the community.
- Collect and analyze program data to evaluate the effectiveness of peer recovery support services.
- Prepare and submit reports to program directors and funding agencies.
- Assist with grant writing and budget management to secure program funding.
- Use Motivational Interviewing and evidence-based recovery and wellness education materials to assist individuals in improving health and wellness
- Assist in the development of individual recovery and wellness goals
- Coordinate and conduct self-help groups and peer support activities
- Provide visual aids (tear sheets, posters, models, hands-on activities) to boost engagement and understanding
- Teach and model skills that are needed to promote wellness and recovery, present as a role model who has lived experience, and offer practical, real-world recommendations, serve as an advocate, mentor, or facilitator as needed
- Help individuals navigate the various behavioral health care systems, including SUS inpatient, detox, step down, and outpatient recovery, primary health, mental health, and others as appropriate
- Provide sound and appropriate education information that supports wellness and recovery
- Inform individuals in recovery of community resources and assist in accessing them
- Promote the value of self-help, peer support, engagement, accountability, and personal empowerment to foster recovery
- Attend work regularly in accordance with agency leave and attendance policies
- Complete required training, documentation, and service delivery according to State and Federal regulations, Hill Country MHDDC, and the Substance Use Services Operational Plan.
- Value and respect every individual's recovery experience
You'll definitely need:
- A high school diploma
- A valid Texas State Driver's License.
- Current automobile insurance and the ability to travel to individuals when necessary.
- Preferred: 3-5 years of experience working in a mental health setting providing community-based services within the community.
- Experience working within a team setting.
- Bilingual: English/Spanish preferred.
- Live within 30 miles of the clinic with reliable transportation
