The Accounts Payable Specialist will perform moderately complex bookkeeping and clerical work in accounting and fiscal recordkeeping. Work may involve specializing in one phase of work, such as reviewing accounting reports for accuracy. Will work under general supervision with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
You will get to:
- Open Mail, sort Accounts Payable invoices, and distribute to appropriate staff.
- Match invoices and corresponding Purchase Orders for appropriate signatures and approval.
- Code invoices for payment with Proper General Ledger Expense Codes.
- Enter data for invoices into Anasazi AP software. Vendors include, but are not limited to the following: MasterCard, Wal-Mart, all phone bills, all contracts, housing assistance, newspaper ads, Travel Vouchers, payroll Special Deductions, Miscellaneous AP Vendors N-Z, and others as assigned.
- Run AP batch reports and attach appropriate invoices and Purchase Orders.
- Create check batches for check processing.
- Prepare backup documentation to be mailed out with checks.
- Make copies of checks for AP paid files before mailing out.
- Verify vendor name, address, and amount on the check with the vendor invoice to ensure accuracy.
- Insert checks in envelopes, meter envelopes, and place them in the outgoing mail bin.
- File check copy, along with all documentation in the AP paid file.
- Answer incoming phone calls efficiently.
- Communicate with Directors and Business Managers as necessary.
- Serve as backup in all areas of AP, assuming duties of a co-worker in their absence.
- Perform related work as assigned.
- Prepares bank deposits accurately.
You'll definitely need:
- High School Diploma/GED
- A valid Texas State Driver's License.
- Current automobile insurance and the ability to travel
- Preferred: 2 years of experience in bookkeeping and accounting functions
- One semester (15 Semester Hours) of accredited college work may be substituted for each 6 months of experience.

We can pay you:
$15.00 to $20.00 per hour and benefits
