The Texas Correctional Office on Offenders with Medical and Mental Impairments (TCOOMMI) Adult Parole/Probation Intensive Case Manager (ICM-Comal County) provides services to individuals who are on the parole Special Needs Offender parole caseload and the probation specialized Mental Health Initiative caseload and are diagnosed with severe and persistent mental health disorders. This is a Monday through Friday, non-exempt primarily field-based position with flexible hours-no nightshift or on-call.
The TCOOMMI ICM regularly meets with individuals in their homes, community, probation/parole, court and at Hill Country MHDD clinics to provide case management, skills training, and psychosocial rehabilitative services for a caseload of 20-25 individuals. Services are intended to stabilize mental health symptoms and reduce the risk of recidivism by working in collaboration with the parole/probation officers. Staff expectation is to provide 3.5 billable service hours per individual on the TCOOMMI caseload every month.
The person in this position must possess a passion and aptitude for working with individuals who have chronic and severe mental health needs. The person in this position must have a passion to serve individuals who are involved in the criminal justice system. This position necessitates innovative thinking, patience, resiliency, skills in advocacy, service coordination, mental health assessment and evaluation, collaborative person-centered recovery planning and dual diagnosis treatment. The person in this position will effectively work independently and on a team, prioritize needs during crisis situations, engage in regular meetings and trainings opportunities, balance self-care, be a delight to work with, and perform other duties assigned with a positive attitude.
Qualifications
You’ll definitely need:
- Bachelor’s degree in the Social Sciences field from an accredited university.
- Master’s degree or college level courses in Criminal Justice or Social Sciences from an accredited university (preferred).
- Previous experience working in the TCOOMMI program, behavioral health, criminal justice, and/or case management, QMHP certification; Bilingual (English/Spanish) (preferred).
- A valid Texas State Driver’s License
- Current automobile insurance and the ability to travel when necessary.
