About the Role
This is a writing-driven associate position built for an attorney early in their career. You will spend your early months working alongside our attorneys across active matters, primarily in business law, probate, and litigation. Much of your day will be research and drafting: briefs, memoranda, motions, and client documents. You will sit in on client meetings, help shape case strategy, and take on more of your own matters as you develop.
This is a training seat by design. You will be taught how to practice, with direct mentorship from senior attorneys, rather than handed a caseload and left to sink or swim. If you want to write a great deal, learn the craft properly, and build a long career here, this role is built for you.
What You'll Do
- Conduct legal research across case law, statutes, and regulations, and synthesize it into practical, usable recommendations
- Draft and revise briefs, memoranda, motions, and client documents, primarily in business law, probate, and litigation matters
- Support senior attorneys across active cases, including hearing and negotiation preparation
- Attend client meetings and maintain clear, regular client communication
- Grow into managing your own matters over time
- Contribute to firm meetings, process improvements, and business development as the firm grows
What We're Looking For
- Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
- Active Wisconsin license, or eligibility for timely admission
- 1 to 4 years of practice experience
- Strong writing ability. Clear, organized, persuasive prose is the single most important quality for this role
- Solid legal research skills and the judgment to know when to keep digging
- A genuine appetite for being coached. Our best hires ask questions early and revise their work without ego
- Professionalism and strong verbal communication with clients and colleagues
- Interest in building a long-term career at the firm
