Tanker Recruiter
Recruitment Strategy and Execution
- Manage full-cycle recruiting for CDL-A tanker and non-CDL driver openings across 5–6 terminal locations, maintaining an active pipeline of qualified candidates.
- Source candidates through really, LinkedIn, Tenstreet, direct outreach, referral programs, and networking efforts.
- Create and maintain job postings, monitor ad performance, and adjust sourcing strategies to support fluctuating terminal demand, often exceeding 50 active openings.
- Partner with terminal managers, operations teams, and leadership to align recruiting priorities with business needs.
- Represent the company professionally in all candidate and recruiting partner communications.
Coordination and Operational Support
- Serve as the primary point of contact between terminal managers, safety personnel, and applicants to maintain clear communication throughout the hiring process.
- Maintain a detailed real-time Excel tracker for open roles, candidate stages, offers, and onboarding progress across all terminals.
- Coordinate daily with terminal management to evaluate staffing shortages, upcoming hiring needs, and scheduling changes.
- Support operations by anticipating driver needs related to turnover, expansion, and seasonal fluctuations.
Screening, Compliance, and Safety Coordination
- Conduct detailed pre-screen interviews to assess driving experience, endorsements, and compliance with DOT and FMCSA requirements.
- Manage regulatory background processes, including MVR, PSP, CDLIS, and Clearinghouse reports, to ensure compliance before hire.
- Coordinate background checks, employment verifications, and pre-employment drug and alcohol testing in partnership with the Safety Department.
- Ensure applicant documentation, including driver qualification files and medical cards, is complete and accurately uploaded into Tenstreet.
- Maintain confidential, compliant records in accordance with federal regulations and company policy.
Offer Management and Onboarding
- Prepare and extend conditional job offers through DocuSign, tailoring pay structure and role details based on terminal and position requirements.
- Schedule and coordinate driver orientation sessions across multiple training locations.
- Arrange travel logistics for new hires as needed, including rental cars, hotels, and flights.
- Send and track orientation confirmations, verify drug testing completion, and monitor all required pre-employment documentation before start dates.
- Update Tenstreet, Excel trackers, and Teams sheets with finalized onboarding and start details to maintain leadership visibility.
Data Management, Reporting, and Continuous Improvement
- Maintain organized recruiting data across Tenstreet, Excel, and Teams.
- Track and report key recruiting metrics, including time-to-hire, source effectiveness, offer acceptance rate, and orientation completion rate.
- Identify bottlenecks in the recruiting or onboarding process and recommend process improvements.
- Provide regular leadership updates on current driver counts, open positions, hiring progress, and recruiting challenges.
Responsibilities

Skills & Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of DOT and FMCSA regulations and driver qualification processes.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Tenstreet, really, and digital document systems such as DocuSign.
- Excellent communication, multitasking, and organizational skills.
- High attention to detail with the ability to manage shifting priorities in a fast-paced, multi-location environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust across departments and with external partners.
