Quality Assurance Supervisor Job Description
Reports directly to the Quality Assurance Manager.
The Quality Assurance Supervisor position is responsible for assisting the QA Manager by leading and overseeing the quality program at the Omaha Nebraska facility. The Quality Assurance Supervisor assists and leads the quality program and is the direct plant contact with regulatory agencies and assists with customer contact. The Quality Assurance Supervisor is a business partner with all functions within the plant and sales department and advocate for continuous quality improvement.
JOB SUMMARY:
- Continuously improves food safety and food quality performance at the plant. Together with other functions, performs internal audits of the facility to verify that procedures mandated by the company and State and Federal governmental agencies are being adhered to. This includes GMP’s, Sanitation, HACCP, and FSPCA.
- Manages all aspects of the laboratory, including microbiological, chemical, physical and sensory aspects of all manufactured food products, and Environmental Sampling.
- Engaged to drive for excellence and facilitate the facility’s Continuous Improvement plan.
- Responsible for the pest control program, through coordination with the contracted pest control service.
- Maintains the weight control program and product change process for of all processing lines in the facility, as well as other loss-control programs.
- Assist with troubleshooting / identification of problems, utilizing root cause analysis and working with production / sales to ensure of the proper conclusion.
- Responsible for the facilities HACCP and SQF programs and FSPCA.
- Reviews and maintains all required processing records and regulatory inspections and reports. Develop tools to monitor deficiencies and quickly implement corrective actions when necessary
- Sanitation and CIP Monitoring.
- Assures that the plant is always ready for inspection.
- Supervises QA Techs

SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Leadership and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Knowledge of dairy plant operations including HTST, CIP, fillers.
- Be self-motivated and well organized.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- High School diploma required
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in food science or microbiology
- Required to possess and/or attain Certification as a SQF practitioner.
- Functional understanding of plant production: SQF, GMP, HACCP, sanitation, plant safety, quality systems and kosher.
