The Engineering Technician II is an experienced, hands-on technical role responsible for building, integrating, testing, troubleshooting, and supporting complex laboratory automation systems. This position requires a high degree of independence, sound technical judgment, and strong collaboration across cross-functional teams including Electrical Engineering (EE), Mechanical Engineering (ME), Systems Engineering (SE), and Manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities
- Build, integrate, test, and troubleshoot complex electrical and mechanical assemblies using schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical drawings
- Perform advanced diagnostics and root-cause analysis at the device and system level
- Support device builds, integration, and qualification activities
- Collaborate with EE, ME, SE, and Manufacturing teams to resolve issues and improve system performance
- Identify, document, and communicate technical issues and improvement opportunities
- Inspect components and subassemblies to ensure compliance with specifications and quality standards
- Maintain the electrical engineering lab, including tools, equipment, and daily operational needs
- Maintain accurate qualification records, documentation, and change tracking using Jira and PLM/ERP systems
- Work independently across multiple projects, meeting schedule and quality expectations
- Advanced hands-on experience in electrical and mechanical assembly
- Excellent PC board-level assembly skills, including soldering, rework, and debugging of PCBAs (through-hole and surface-mount components)
- Strong ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical drawings
- Proven ability to troubleshoot complex systems and perform root-cause analysis
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong organizational, multitasking, and time-management skills
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Effective collaboration and communication skills across cross-functional teams
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams)
- Commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and organized workspace
- Associate’s degree in Engineering Technology, Electrical Technology, or equivalent technical certification preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience with electrical and mechanical systems
- Experience working in a fast-paced engineering, automation, or manufacturing environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Familiarity with documentation practices, procedures, and work instructions
- Experience with Jira, PLM, and/or ERP systems preferred
- Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 10%
