As an RN in Emergency Services, you will provide direct patient care by utilizing the nursing process, administering medications, and performing clinical treatments. You will monitor patient conditions, document care, and collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure comprehensive patient support and advocacy.
Description:
Provides direct patient care to patients using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.
Reports to: Director Emergency Services and Med Surg
You will perform a plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.
Documents patient care given.
Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
Observes central monitor screens, interprets, recognizes and records changes in patient's rhythms and notifies nurse as appropriate.
Participates in Handle with Care annually or CPI participation every 2 years.
Qualifications:
Minimum Education:
Associate Degree, Bachelor Degree or RN Diploma required.
Required Skills:
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Required Skills:
American Heart Association or American Red Cross Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) must be obtained within 90 days of employment if not current upon hire, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required within 6 months of employment. Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) required within 6 months of employment.
TNCC and ENPC certifications preferred.
Required Skills:
License: Current TN or Multi-State RN licensure.
Minimum Work Experience:
Six months to one year experience as RN in an emergency setting preferred.
