Responsibilities
- Support lead teachers by assisting with daily classroom activities, lesson implementation, and classroom management
- Engage children in age-appropriate activities that promote literacy, math, physical education, and social skills
- Help create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating environment for children of various developmental stages, including toddlers and preschoolers
- Assist with curriculum implementation and adapt lesson plans to meet individual needs
- Monitor children’s behavior using positive behavior management techniques to foster respectful and cooperative classroom dynamics
- Support classroom organization, including preparing materials, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring safety protocols are followed
- Collaborate with teaching staff to provide a fun, safe, and nurturing learning environment for all ages and stages of development.
Requirements
- Prior experience working with children in a preschool or daycare setting is highly preferred
- Knowledge of childhood development and classroom management is a plus
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with children, parents, and team members
- Ability to adapt quickly to different classroom environments and support various age groups including infants, toddlers and preschoolers.
- Certification in CPR/First Aid or willingness to obtain upon hire is required
- Must be able to pass a Level 2 Background Screening
- Must have or be willing to obtain 45-hour state mandated training through DCF online coursework, along with maintaining 10 annual hours of in-service training
