JOB TITLE: RN CRP

REPORTS TO: Project Supervisor
This is advanced professional work in the area of providing intensive, structured, active, clinical treatment with the goal(s) of acute symptom remission, hospital avoidance, and/or reduction of inpatient length of stay.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Participates in the screening process to evaluate the appropriateness of the consumer's participation in the Crisis Residential program.
Provides coping skills training that corresponds to presenting problems (e.g. stress management, symptom management, assertiveness training, and problem solving).
Provides medication administration under the supervision of the staff psychiatrist.
Provides medication monitoring, medication evaluation, and medication management.
Provides consumer and family education (i.e. diagnosis, symptoms, medication, coping skills, etc).
Completes paperwork in a timely manner.
Consults with referral sources, case managers, and significant others.
Ensures continuity of care.
Ongoing in-service training: Infection Control
Responsible for injection program.
Responsible for the storage and protection of consumer records, including compliance with the Heath Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996.
Participates in after-hours, on-call rotation.
Nurses will maintain MAS certification and perform duties as outlined by the NDP guidelines and HHS policies and procedures.
Must be certified in first aid and CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation). CPR certification requires that the employee be able to physically demonstrate that he or she is able to perform the skill on-the-ground (i.e., as in a real life situation) as specified in HHS policy.
Performs other reasonable, related duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and other management, as required.
DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Extensive knowledge of the fundamental types of emotional and behavioral disturbances and therapeutic intervention techniques.
Possess a high degree of organizational skills and flexibility.
Ability to effectively apply therapeutic techniques and complete required paperwork.
Ability to establish and maintain an effective and professional relationship with staff, consumers, and the general public.
Ability to communicate effectively with the family of consumers and officials of other organizations.
Knowledge regarding the diagnosis of mental illness and corresponding medications.
Ability to work effectively with the medical community both internally at HHS and externally.
Must demonstrate the ability to work well with staff and clients in a polite, respectful and dignified manner.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Alabama. All continuing education requirements as a RN in Alabama must be kept up-to-date.
Minimum of two years of psychiatric experience, (i.e., providing services to individuals with a mental illness and/or substance abuse diagnosis.
Must be able to lift 70 lbs.
