What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Assistant, Non-Certified (FT) position at HIGHLAND DISTRICT HOSPITAL?
A trained member of the health care team who works under the supervision of a registered nurse and/or Physician. Performs duties for all aspects of care and treatment for the patient population served. Effectively communicates and interacts with the patient, significant others, and other health care team members.
Has knowledge of the clinical interventions and equipment necessary to meet the specific needs of the patient population served and able to work flexible hours based on clinic needs.
· Able to work all areas of the Outpatient Department.
· Completes annual skills validation, maintains competencies and education per Department/Hospital policy. Shows knowledge of new trends and techniques in patient care.
· Maintain a safe and neat work area.
· Demonstrate a good working relationship with all Physicians and their respective offices.
· Assumes total responsibility for assigned clinic, this includes pre and post clinic duties.
· Delivers direct patient care under the direction of the registered nurse and/or physician.
· Responds to the demands of changing patient acuity in a positive effectiveness.
· Demonstrates responsibility and accountability for continuous improvement.
· Practices quality service as evidenced through QI results and patient satisfaction
· Maintain positive customer relations with all customers of the Outpatient department including patients, families and co-workers.
· Maintains positive team relationships by demonstrating responsibility and accountability by enhancing positive relations.
· Maintain supplies and report malfunctioning equipment.
· Attends 50% of staff meetings to maintain awareness of updated activities of the department and unit.

Qualifications:High School graduate or equivalent. Certified Medical Assistant and previous medical office experience is preferred but not required.
