Highgate Elementary School is seeking a Receptionist beginning in the 2026-2027 school year.
Job Description & Responsibilities:
As our front office receptionist, you will be the face and voice of our school. You will be the first person seen by community members as they enter our building, the primary person answering our phones, and—most importantly—a friendly, welcoming face to assist our students with their daily needs.
The ideal candidate will:
Love serving children and families!
Possess excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. You will be responsible for answering phones, greeting visitors at the door, and interacting daily with students, parents, community members, school personnel, outside agencies, and state officials.
Exhibit a high level of confidentiality and professionalism at all times. Maintaining paramount discretion regarding school and student information is critical.
Demonstrate excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. You must possess the ability to multitask effectively despite frequent interruptions and prioritize your workload in a busy office environment.
Work well collaboratively while taking appropriate initiative. You should be able to manage tasks independently, effectively, and on time.
Have a strong technology background. A working knowledge of Microsoft Office and the ability to quickly learn school-data programs is required. The receptionist is responsible for maintaining the school calendar, posting updates to the school website, and generating student data reports using Excel, PowerSchool, and Google Suites for colleagues and various state agencies.
Position Details:
Up to 212 days/year (following the school calendar); 40 hours per week with excellent benefits.
This is an hourly union support staff position.
Hourly Rate Range: $19.65/hour - $34.25/hour, based on education and experience according to the collective bargaining salary scale.
An Associate's Degree and 3 years of relevant experience are preferred, but not required.
