DESCRIPTION:
Physical Education Teacher for the 2025-2026 school year. The teaching assignment will include a planned, sequential program of curricula and instruction that helps students develop the knowledge, attitudes, motor skills, self-management skills, and confidence needed to adopt and maintain physically active and healthy lifestyles. Plan, implement and evaluate classroom instruction consistent with District approved curriculum. Report pupil progress to parents. Support programs and building initiatives. Attend building/district meetings. Attend conferences as required. Other related duties.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate with appropriate endorsement in secondary health/fitness or physical education
- Must be familiar with Washington standards for Health and Physical Education, Comprehensive Sexual Health Education (C.S.H.E.) and experience working in collaborative learning teams.
- Must have the ability to excite students about physical education and health.
- Must be able to demonstrate great attendance and punctuality

Bilingual in Spanish
High School and/or Middle School teaching experience

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work with secondary colleagues to gather and analyze student data for school improvement
- Develop sequential instruction that teaches movement, physical fitness and nutrition.
- Will be an advisor for Career Pathways and additional student groups
- Supervise gym and surrounding athletic fields when used.
- Supervise gender-appropriate locker room.
- Maintain equipment, inventories, and supplies.
- Participate in on-going professional development
- Development of curriculum and maintenance of course maps and frameworks according to school state requirements
- Other duties as assigned by principal
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Working area will be in a gym, athletic field, or regular education classroom. Teaching assignment will be determined on an annual basis by the building principal with input from physical education department.
CAREER OPPORTUNITIES:
Experience in a rural school district working with a diversified population. Coaching, club and advisory positions available.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, or consistent with the subject being taught, but can be abnormally loud on occasion.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally work in outside weather conditions and be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, temperature fluctuations, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals commonly used in instruction and/or cleaning. It may be expected that the individual could be exposed to blood or other potentially infectious materials during the course of their duties. The employee may be exposed to infectious disease as carried by students.
The employee may be required to travel in school owned or leased vehicles while supervising and assisting students.
