Library Media Specialist

School of the Osage, in partnership with our students, families, and community will equip all learners to reach their maximum potential for a lifetime of success.

 

Type of Position: Library Media Specialist

Category: Certified

Reports to: Building Principal

Experience: Two years teaching experience, preferred.

Degrees required or preferred: Bachelor's Degree

Valid Missouri Library Media Specialist Certification

 

(A valid Missouri teaching certificate and complete transcript(s) of college credit must be on file for each teacher before the beginning of each new school year. It is the duty of each teacher to possess a valid certificate that covers the academic year (the teaching assignment/s and all other areas listed on the certificate). The teacher must assure that all professional development requirements and other DESE requirements are met to keep certification current)

  1. Select, acquire, organize and make accessible both print and electronic instructional materials for students, teachers, and staff to support teaching and learning
  2. Provide current library technology and acquire research materials to support curricular needs
  3. Assure the library media center meets DESE standards, including MSIP 6 expectations for Effective Teaching and Learning standards for library media services
  4. Provide resources and activities for the diverse needs of all students
  5. Promote a positive learning climate by presenting a LMC that is pleasant and comfortable
  6. Collaborate with teachers and staff to design units and coordinate learning materials
  7. Maintain current, appropriate, and useful materials based on evaluation and reading guidelines

An individual who holds this position must have the ability to:  Speak and hear in an environment where numerous conversations and activities may be taking place simultaneously, move around the classroom, read handwritten or printed material. Occasionally the individual will be required to work outdoors for short periods of time to perform such tasks as loading and unloading students from district transportation and supervising recess, and lift objects up to 50 lbs. 

 

Salary: Commensurate with experience

 

Contract Type: 10 month
