Title: High School Principal
Qualifications: Holds valid Kentucky certification for High School Principal
Preferred Qualifications: Experience as a Lead Teacher or previous administration experience.
Reports To: Superintendent
Job Goals: To use leadership, supervisory, and administrative skills so as to promote academic achievement for all students.
Responsibilities:
Instructional Leadership
Development of programs and monitors implementation of curriculum.
Analyzes and utilizes summative, formative, and common assessment data for the improvement of curriculum and instruction.
Maintains a school-wide climate and organization for learning.
Facilitates the development of curriculum and/or instructional programs based on theories, research findings, and needs assessment results.
Identifies and communicates effective teaching strategies.
Chairs the school based decision making council
Program Planning:
Identifies and communicates effective instructional planning strategies.
Determines priorities based on assessed needs, time-lines, and resources.
Develops the CSIP
Develops the school professional development plan
School Management:
Utilizes effective interview and selection process as well as working closely with SBDM to select the most competent candidate.
Assigns personnel to positions which ensure maximum performance and equitable distribution of assignments.
Evaluates personnel
Organizes and supervises support service personnel for optimum performance.
Facilitates positive faculty and staff attitudes.
Rewards faculty, staff, and students for quality work.
Works closely with the ATC, WKCTC, Murray State, and the Four Rivers Scholarship Foundation in increasing the number of students taking
dual credit courses.
Oversees the Pilot Academy
Community Relations:
Practices and works towards the school board's vision of positive relationships.
Involve and seek parents to be a part of school activities.
Assesses community expectations and perceptions of school performance.
Accommodates appropriate request to use school facilities.
Establishes and maintains favorable relationships with local community groups and individuals.
Raise funds in order to continue Pilot Academy
Works with other schools and organizations in a professional manner.
Business Management:
Maintains fiscal accountability system.
Utilizes a system for purchasing and inventory control.
Manages financial resources in a most cost-effective manner.
