Special Education Instructional Aide / Paraprofessional
Southern Boone County High School is seeking qualified applicants for an immediate opening for a Special Education Instructional Aide/Paraprofessional. This position supports students with disabilities in both academic and behavioral settings while working collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and support staff to help students achieve success.
Qualifications
Applicants must meet one of the following requirements:
- Completion of at least 60 college credit hours, OR
- A passing score on the Missouri Content Assessment for Paraprofessionals
Preferred qualifications include:
- Experience working with students with disabilities
- Degree and/or coursework in Special Education
- Knowledge of behavioral intervention strategies and supports
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist teachers in implementing instructional and behavioral supports for students with special needs
- Provide academic assistance and individualized support in classroom settings
- Help maintain a positive, safe, and structured learning environment
- Support students with social, emotional, and behavioral needs
- Demonstrate patience, flexibility, and understanding when working with students with disabilities
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to support student progress and success
- Additional responsibilities may include assisting students with special needs on a bus route
