Assistant High School Principal
Qualified candidates will meet the following requirements and demonstrate the ability to:
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Education, Education Administration or related field
- Iowa Professional Administrative license, by the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners (BOEE), with Evaluator certification
- Demonstrated excellence in communication, both oral and written
- Demonstrated excellence in maintaining effective relationships with students, staff, and colleagues
- Positive work record, which includes a high degree of organization and attendance
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of five (5) years of successful teaching experience
- Experience in a high school
- Experience with behavior interventions and restorative practices
- Strong knowledge and skill in the use of technology
Primary Responsibilities
- Assist the high school principal in the overall administration of the school
- Serve as building administrator in the absence of high school principal
- Serve as a member of the district administrative team
- Assist in the recruitment and hiring process of staff
- Provide instructional leadership to effectively meet the needs of high school students
- Provide ongoing coaching for improvement through actionable feedback
- Supervise and evaluate teachers and departments as assigned by high school principal
- Assist in the coordination and supervision of special programs- Special Education and Section 504
- Collaborate with students and their family to implement appropriate interventions
- Assist high school principal with the enforcement of student discipline policies
- Lead the reporting and monitoring of student attendance
- Assist in providing supervision in building, hallways and commons, grounds, parking lot, and cafeteria
- Assist the principal and activities director with supervision of evening and weekend extracurricular activities
