Position Summary:
The Assistant Varsity / Head Junior Varsity Girls Softball Coach is responsible for assisting the Head Varsity Coach in the administration, organization, and development of the New Hope-Solebury High School Girls’ Softball program. This position supports the District’s mission by promoting academic achievement, athletic excellence, sportsmanship, and the personal growth of student-athletes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Assist the Head Varsity Coach in planning, organizing, and supervising the overall girls’ softball program in accordance with District policies and PIAA regulations.

Serve as the Head Coach for the Junior Varsity team, including practice planning, game management, and supervision of student-athletes.

Conduct practices that emphasize skill development, conditioning, teamwork, and safe participation.

Instruct student-athletes in softball fundamentals, advanced techniques, and game strategies.

Evaluate athlete performance and provide instruction and feedback to support individual and team development.

Promote and model appropriate conduct, sportsmanship, and respect for teammates, opponents, officials, and the school community.

Support the academic success and well-being of student-athletes in alignment with District expectations.

Collaborate with the Varsity Head Coach to ensure consistency and continuity between varsity and junior varsity programs.

Assist with game preparation, including lineups, scouting, equipment management, and in-game decision-making as assigned.

Communicate effectively and professionally with student-athletes, parents/guardians, administrators, and athletic department staff.

Ensure compliance with District policies, PIAA regulations, and league rules, including eligibility, safety, and reporting requirements.

Uphold and enforce District codes of conduct, team rules, and expectations.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Varsity Coach or Athletic Director.
Qualifications:

Prior coaching and/or playing experience in softball preferred.

Knowledge of softball rules, strategies, and safety practices.

Ability to work effectively with student-athletes in an educational environment.

Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

Ability to work collaboratively with coaches, administrators, and school staff.

Completion of required District, PIAA, and state-mandated certifications and clearances.
