EDR: HS Softball Assistant Varsity/Head Junior Varsity Coach

Position Summary:

The Assistant Varsity / Head Junior Varsity Girls Softball Coach is responsible for assisting the Head Varsity Coach in the administration, organization, and development of the New Hope-Solebury High School Girls’ Softball program. This position supports the District’s mission by promoting academic achievement, athletic excellence, sportsmanship, and the personal growth of student-athletes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist the Head Varsity Coach in planning, organizing, and supervising the overall girls’ softball program in accordance with District policies and PIAA regulations.

• Serve as the Head Coach for the Junior Varsity team, including practice planning, game management, and supervision of student-athletes.

• Conduct practices that emphasize skill development, conditioning, teamwork, and safe participation.

• Instruct student-athletes in softball fundamentals, advanced techniques, and game strategies.

• Evaluate athlete performance and provide instruction and feedback to support individual and team development.

• Promote and model appropriate conduct, sportsmanship, and respect for teammates, opponents, officials, and the school community.

• Support the academic success and well-being of student-athletes in alignment with District expectations.

• Collaborate with the Varsity Head Coach to ensure consistency and continuity between varsity and junior varsity programs.

• Assist with game preparation, including lineups, scouting, equipment management, and in-game decision-making as assigned.

• Communicate effectively and professionally with student-athletes, parents/guardians, administrators, and athletic department staff.

• Ensure compliance with District policies, PIAA regulations, and league rules, including eligibility, safety, and reporting requirements.

• Uphold and enforce District codes of conduct, team rules, and expectations.

• Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Varsity Coach or Athletic Director.

Qualifications:

• Prior coaching and/or playing experience in softball preferred.

• Knowledge of softball rules, strategies, and safety practices.

• Ability to work effectively with student-athletes in an educational environment.

• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

• Ability to work collaboratively with coaches, administrators, and school staff.

• Completion of required District, PIAA, and state-mandated certifications and clearances.
