A Day in the Life as the Safety & Training Manager
As our Safety and Training Manager, you'll lead and develop our safety culture, including daily audits, incident investigations, and policy development.
You'll mentor the team and support our safety culture, coach field staff, maintain compliance, and represent us at industry events.
You'll Be Responsible For
- Developing, implementing, and maintaining company safety policies, plans, and training programs.
- Conducting job site audits and leading weekly toolbox talks.
- Training teams on certifications like NCCER, CPR, and equipment operation.
- Leading incident investigations, implementing corrective actions, and preventing repeat risks.
- Managing safety documentation and collaborating with HR and Legal on compliance.
- Representing High Plains Steel Services at AGC, ABC, SEAA, and other events.

Here's who we're looking for in our Safety & Training Manager role:

- You're excited to build and lead new processes within clear guidelines.

- You have sharp attention to detail and spot problems before others do.
- You believe rules aren't optional; they're how great teams succeed.
- You like structure and accountability, and you thrive with both.
- 1-3 years in a safety or construction leadership role.
- Working knowledge of OSHA standards and field safety best practices.
- Current certifications or ability to earn quickly: CPR, NCCER, Traffic Flagger, Equipment Ops.
- Comfortable working on construction sites and performing physical inspections.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Bilingual Spanish/English is preferred but not required.
- Ability to lead training sessions and interact with clients professionally.
- Must have reliable transportation and the ability to travel to multiple job sites.
- Must pass a background check and drug screening.
