CNC MACHINIST - DAY SHIFT
Riverside, MO (Kansas City metro) | Full-time, direct hire
Schedule: Day shift
Pay: $25 - $35/hour depending on experience
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
A long-established heavy machinery manufacturer serving the commercial marine, defense and mining industries is adding a CNC Machinist to its Kansas City-area shop. The company fabricates, machines, paints and assembles large-scale equipment used on ocean-going vessels and in U.S. Navy programs, and carries a large backlog of marine and defense work.
This is real machining, not fixture work. You will run large horizontal mills and set large workpieces per work instructions using 3-point setups, with parts held in a relaxed state. It takes a machinist who knows what they are doing, and the pay reflects that skill.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Perform all machine operating duties on large horizontal mills and related equipment
- Review drawings and work from them accurately
- CNC programming and editing
- Set up large workpieces according to provided work instructions, and make improvements when needed
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment
WHAT YOU NEED
- Experience operating large horizontal mills, including setting up large workpieces from provided work instructions
- Familiarity with 3-point setups and setting up parts in a relaxed state (this is not fixture work)
- Familiarity with older Fanuc controls (18M) and the newer Fanuc 30iB control
- Ability to read and understand drawings
- Ability to read ID/OD micrometers and calipers
- Solid understanding of workpiece setup fundamentals
- Ability to work independently and stay self-motivated
- Okuma experience a plus
- ITAR: this role may require access to ITAR/EAR-controlled information or hardware. Applicants must qualify as a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or other protected individual under 22 C.F.R. 120.15) or be able to obtain export authorization before starting.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Full-time, safety-sensitive shop floor role. Standard PPE required. You will work around heavy machinery and large-scale parts for the full shift. The shop is not climate controlled: hot in summer, cold in winter.
