What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Frontend Developer position at HIFI?
About the Company
HIFI is a financial infrastructure platform for the modern internet. Businesses around the world—from fast-growing fintech startups to global financial institutions—use HIFI to move money across stablecoins, fiat rails, and onchain systems through a single programmable interface. Our customers use HIFI to automate payments, orchestrate treasury, power embedded finance products, and launch new global money workflows without needing to build or manage complex banking, blockchain, or compliance infrastructure themselves. Our mission is to make money programmable by default, and to give developers and businesses the tools to move value instantly, globally, and with software-level control.
About the Team
The HIFI platform team builds the infrastructure, developer experiences, and financial workflows that power stablecoin-native finance at scale. The team designs and maintains the APIs, user-facing tools, and partner integrations that allow customers to create accounts, move money across bank and blockchain rails, and operate compliant global payment systems. We work across the full lifecycle of modern money movement—from account creation and ledgering, to fiat and stablecoin settlement, to global payouts and onchain connectivity. Our customers span fintech platforms, marketplaces, exchanges, neobanks, payroll providers, and tokenized asset platforms operating across the U.S., Europe, Africa, LatAm, and MENA. This is an opportunity to help build one of the fastest-growing segments of financial infrastructure and define how money moves on the internet over the next decade.
About the Role
We're looking for a Senior Frontend Developer to lead development of the primary products through which developers interact with HIFI. From our Developer Dashboard to SDKs and integration tooling, you’ll architect and deliver performant, elegant, and reliable experiences that make our infrastructure accessible at scale. This role requires a combination of deep technical expertise and strong product intuition. You will set standards for code quality, drive architectural decisions, mentor other engineers, and ensure flawless usability across all developer-facing surfaces. This role is based in-person in New York, working closely with our engineering and GTM teams.
We value people who:
- Find large challenges exciting and enjoy discovering and defining problems as much as solving them
- Deliver — you may enjoy thoughtful conversations and perfecting designs, but in the end, you care about building reliable solutions that ship
- Communicate clearly and comfortably across teams, asking questions, sharing ideas, and speaking up
- Learn quickly, stay curious, and adapt to new challenges with a growth mindset
- Move fast and stay effective in ambiguous, evolving environments, with a strong sense of urgency to get things done
- Give and receive feedback openly, and collaborate across functions
- Bring passion and experience — for Web3, modern payment solutions, or anything else — and channel it into their work

- Architect responsive, high-performance web and mobile applications for mission-critical workflows.
- Own and evolve design systems and reusable component libraries at scale.
- Define and enforce accessibility, usability, and developer experience best practices.
Technical Leadership
- Drive architecture decisions for frontend systems to maximize performance, resiliency, and maintainability.
- Build fast, reliable build pipelines optimizing developer velocity.
- Design comprehensive testing frameworks and monitoring to guarantee uptime and reliability.
- Champion continuous performance tuning, technical debt reduction, and security improvements.
Product & Design Collaboration
- Partner with engineering, product, and GTM leads to define product requirements and developer journeys.
- Influence product roadmap and advocate for developer needs.
- Exercise strong product judgment. Prioritizing simplicity and clarity in developer tools.
Systems & Scale
- Ensure frontend systems are capable of supporting global usage and billions in transaction volume.
- Design integration frameworks and SDKs that enable seamless API adoption.
- Proactively anticipate future product needs and scalability requirements.
Team Contribution
- Mentor and support junior/mid-level engineers across the frontend stack.
- Contribute to hiring, onboarding, and growing frontend engineering culture.
Qualifications
- 4 years building and shipping high-performance frontend applications in production
- Deep proficiency in React, TypeScript, and modern frameworks (e.g., Next.js, React Native)
- Experience leading architecture and owning design systems / component libraries
- Strong product instincts. Able to shape user experience and influence product direction
- Skilled with CI/CD, testing frameworks, monitoring, and performance optimization
- Solid understanding of frontend interaction with APIs, infrastructure, and security models
- Thrives in fast-paced environments with high reliability and usability requirements
Preferred Skills
Interested candidates who meet the basic qualifications should consider applying. The following preferred skills and experience are helpful for this role, but candidates with only some of them are able to be successful on our team. Learning on the job is critical success and part of the excitement of working at HIFI.
- Deep experience building financial-grade systems, including integrations with banking infrastructures, onboarding/KYC/KYB systems, and secure transaction orchestration
- Hands-on work with global payments rails (ACH, SWIFT, RTP, SEPA, card networks like Visa/MC), as well as treasury, settlement, and reconciliation flows
- Strong knowledge of distributed and event-driven architectures used in modern financial systems (pub/sub, message queues, streaming, caching for performance and resiliency)
- Expertise in high-security environments, including fraud prevention, identity/security controls, encryption, and compliance-aligned software design
- Track record shipping and scaling payments or fintech products, ideally involving cross-border flows, liquidity management, or stablecoin enablement
