What are the responsibilities and job description for the Clerk I (Temporary) position at HIDALGO COUNTY DRAINAGE DISTRICT 1?
Hidalgo County Drainage District No. 1 reserves the right to select candidates considered to be the most highly qualified based on education and/or experience.
Employee performs routine clerical, secretarial and administrative work in answering telephones, receiving the public, providing customer assistance, data processing, and record-keeping.
EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED
Develops and maintains office forms and procedures, and assists with administrative tasks
Prepares, edits, and distributes correspondence, reports, forms, and documents
Develops, coordinates, and maintains record keeping and filing systems
Duplicates and distributes materials
Composes, types and edits correspondence, reports, memoranda and other material
Will deliver/pick-up documents at various County offices and/or run errands as required by the District’s on-going daily activities
Working hours subject to change as deemed necessary to the changing needs of the District
Performs other duties as assigned
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
One to two (1-2) years of experience in clerical/secretarial support work in a governmental setting
Graduation from a high school or equivalent (GED)
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATION
Must have a current valid Texas motor vehicle operator’s license
Must be able to be insured by the District’s insurance carrier
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of office practices and administrative procedures
Skill in the use of standard office equipment and software, for example: computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines
Ability to implement administrative procedures
Ability to interpret rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
Ability to communicate effectively
Ability to train others
Knowledge in both English/Spanish is preferred
