Aerospace Quality Engineer | Mason, OH
$80-$120k , Based on Candidate Qualification
Reporting to the Quality Manager, the QE is responsible for developing, applying, and maintaining a quality control system for processing materials to finished product. Develops and initiates methods and procedures for inspection, testing, and evaluation. Devises sampling procedures, supervises the design of forms for recording quality checks and prepares instructions for these procedures. Develops and implements methods and procedures to assess cost and responsibility for nonconforming product. May conduct training and write training manuals on quality issues.
Core Functions:
- Provide Quality leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill to maintain a positive Quality Culture
- Provide a customer interface for product launch, problem resolution, and continuous improvement of products and processes.
- Evaluate discrepant hardware per customer quality requirements and submit to the customer for formal review and disposition
- Assist in identifying or auditing root causes and corrective action of nonconforming parts
- Investigate and participate directly in Material Review Board actions
- Determine and implement Quality Alerts and Corrective Actions to prevent recurrence of escapes
- Provide customers with data associated with NPI development (such as FAI, PFMEA, PPAP, etc.) as required by the customer
- Perform source inspections and Workstation Audits as needed or scheduled
- Submit and follow up with Vendor Corrective Action Requests (VCAR) for supplier-related quality issues
- Generate instructions for final inspection and processing of manufactured parts and assemblies
- Participate in Internal Auditing of the Quality Management System
- Perform the quality portion of contract review and audit received Purchase Orders for changes in specification or quality aspects
- Reviews quality trends to prevent or reduce defects, determine problem causes and initiate actions to provide permanent corrections
- Read and understand the blueprints and drawings of customer parts within the QE responsibility
- Understand and apply GD&T, FMEA, Gage R&R, and Capability Analysis fundamentals as applicable.
- Create and/or maintain documentation of all types as required
- Follow work instructions, procedures, safety, and company policies as given

- Perform under AS9100 quality standards and NADCAP accreditation
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree (B.A / B.S.) from a four-year college or university and/or equivalent combination of education and experience as outlined below.
- 8-10 years' experience in aerospace, precision machining, or directly-related industry
- 5 years' experience preparing for and completing NADCAP audits
- Requires knowledge of the company quality system as well as contractual quality requirements.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
- Must meet the ITAR definition of §120.15 U.S. person

Physical Requirements/Demand:
- Will ascend/descend stairs multiple times per day
- Will alternate between being stationary, traverse, or move about various distances for up to the entire duration of shift
- Will need to regularly operate a computer, telephone, keyboard, and mouse
- Specific vision abilities include close vision, color perception, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. 20/20 vision (corrected)
- Oscillating between fine and gross manipulation / motor skills
- The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations using English as the spoken language
- Daily exposure to noisy/loud environment when in the production plant
Salary : $80,000 - $120,000
