Duties
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to develop comprehensive treatment plans tailored to each patient’s needs
- Review and verify medical documentation, including clinical notes, diagnostic codes (ICD-9, ICD-10), CPT coding, and insurance information
- Schedule patient appointments and procedures using EMR (Electronic Medical Record) systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks
- Verify insurance coverage, benefits, and eligibility for Medicare and other insurers to facilitate accurate billing and authorization processes
- Communicate proactively with patients regarding treatment plans, appointment reminders, and follow-up instructions via phone or electronic messaging
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by maintaining confidentiality and secure handling of patient records and sensitive information
- Assist in the preparation of accurate documentation reviews, care plans, and billing submissions to support medical coding accuracy and reimbursement
Skills
- Extensive knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding systems, CPT coding, and healthcare documentation standards
- Proficiency with EMR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, or similar platforms
- Strong experience in medical billing, insurance verification, and claims processing within a clinical setting
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel), typing (including 10-key), and familiarity with health information management software like Dentrix or Eaglesoft for dental clinics if applicable
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Bilingual abilities are highly valued to effectively serve diverse patient populations
- Prior clinic or medical office experience with front desk duties such as scheduling, patient intake, phone etiquette, filing medical records, and office management tasks
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations ensuring confidentiality in all aspects of patient care and documentation review
- Strong customer service orientation with excellent communication skills to support patient service excellence
