CNC Lathe Operator
Job Summary
The CNC Lathe Operator is responsible for operating CNC turning equipment to produce precision-machined components according to customer specifications, engineering drawings, and established quality standards. This position requires attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and a strong commitment to safety and quality.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate CNC lathes to machine metal components according to specifications.
- Load and unload raw materials and finished parts from the machine.
- Read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and machining drawings.
- Verify dimensions using precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
- Perform routine machine adjustments and tool changes as needed.
- Inspect finished parts to ensure they meet required specifications and quality standards.
- Monitor machine operation and identify potential issues or defects.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
- Complete required production and quality documentation.
- Perform basic machine maintenance and report equipment issues to the appropriate supervisor or maintenance personnel.
- Work efficiently to meet production schedules while maintaining quality standards.
- Follow all established procedures for handling materials, tooling, and finished products.
Qualifications
- Previous CNC lathe or CNC machining experience preferred.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and technical drawings.
- Ability to use precision measuring instruments.
- Basic understanding of CNC machine operations and tooling.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and safely lift and move materials as required.
Safety Responsibilities
The CNC Lathe Operator is expected to follow all safety procedures, properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE), and immediately report unsafe conditions, equipment concerns, or workplace hazards to management.
